My Danish Roots is a full-service genealogy agency in Copenhagen, Denmark. We conduct all kinds of genealogy research that are based on Danish genealogy records.
Hiring a professional genealogist is a matter of confidence. This is the reason why we always offer to do a consultation completely free of charge to evaluate the chances of success. We accept only projects with a fair chance of success.
As experienced genealogists in Denmark, we do high-quality and targeted genealogical research with a minimum of wasted time. For your benefit!
Our Free Consultation
Before a genealogical search, it is impossible to tell how long it will take. Therefore, our free consultation and/or search is the first thing we do. We also offer to do the research in steps of a limited number of hours, i.e. the number you prefer.
On top of that, we keep you informed about the progress during the search, so you can adjust the purpose or terminate the research at any time, and for any reason in which case, we will refund unused hours in total.
Our services are billed hourly and our rate is 50 USD per hour. We charge only for our working hours and we don’t add any other costs at all.
Our Danish Genealogy

- Profeciency in Danish including the old words, terms and abbreviations that are no longer used or understood
- Know the rules of Danish names, and when they were changed and how
- Know Danish first names and family-names, so we can tell if an unusual name is a variation of a common name, a spelling mistake or if it has been Anglicized
- Citing appropriate sources
- Conversant with the division of Denmark into counties, municipalities, districts, deaneries, parishes, etc.
- Have a thorough knowledge of Danish history and can put your family events into a historical context
- Easy access to the National Archive and the province archives to find the genealogy records that are not online
- Can find and contact the right local archives and genealogy societies
- Sustantiate all findings by copies of the genealogy records
- Meeting the Association of Professional Genealogists' professional standards

We commence the research and share the findings during the research process.
An agreement with My Danish Roots follows typically these steps:

- We do a consultation completely free of charge and inform you about the outcome and our evaluation of the chances of success
- You choose the number of research hours you’re comfortable with
- You can pay our fee in different ways

My Danish Roots uses a secure payment server that encrypts all information with SSL protocol which means your data is secure and cannot be read by other outsiders.
We charge your credit card before we commence our research and we confirm always upon receipt of payments.
You have the option of changing or terminating the research at any time of the process and get a refund for hours not used but the right of withdrawal is not granted on our services as they are of such a nature that under Danish law no right of return can or should be granted.

Privacy Policy
We process your personal information securely and confidentially in accordance with applicable law, including the Personal Data Regulation and the Data Protection Act.
Your information will only be used for the research we are conducting for you will be deleted when your task is closed.
When visitors fill out the form on the site, we collect the data displayed in the form and also the visitor’s IP address and browser’s user agent string to help detect spam.
